“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” Psalm 122:6
“As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.” Psalm 125:2
“The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.” Psalm 128:5
“Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 135:21
There is just something extraordinary when you look at the map of Jerusalem. It is almost like seeing the heart of God. You see the incredible harmony of the architecture and the resemblance to a human heart is striking. In this heart you find Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Armenian Quarters. There is also the Old City remembering the earliest days of human civilization and all its religions and belief systems. There is also the Temple of Mount, where the Jewish temple was located with the holiest of the holiest for the Jews, the ark of covenant with Moses law.
Geographically Jerusalem is surrounded by hills. It is actually one of the cities built upon 7 hills. The other one is Rome.
Mount of Olives is immediately overlooking Old City’s walls and must have an icredible view on the temple. In the middle of the city itself is Golgotha, the location of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Amazingly this makes it the central location for all the Quarters that surround it.
It is difficult not to see this as a wonderful illustration to the prophecy of Zechariah 14.
“And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.” Zech. 14:16
In Jerusalem we can see all the nations coming to worship the King (Ps. 147, Phi. 2:9-11). We are saved by the cross, it is there where our salvation was finished. Mount Calvary. We are saved by Him. The Lamb of God is His name. All praise and glory to Jesus Christ!
